A good galvanizing coating protects the steel in three ways. The corrosion rate of the zinc coating is very low and uniform compared to steel, so its service life in the respective atmosphere can be very well estimated. The coatings primarily offer cathodic protection. Even areas that have been slightly damaged by drilling, cutting or scratching are protected against corrosion thanks to zinc rust protection products.

It can be checked using magnetic or other simple methods (without damaging the zinc layer).
